This Little Boy

This little boy makes my heart skip a beat each time I see his smile....
He is lovable, stubborn, polite, independent... He looks like his mommy and daddy...
He has a way of turning the worst day into the best...
He can turn almost anything into a toy and have the best time...
He is my world, my everything!

I love you, B!

April Recap

Wow! It's been a busy month! Brayden turned 2, then it was Easter, wedding shower for a wedding I'm a bridesmaid for in May, we had good friends in town to visit, I changed jobs...whew I'm tired! This weekend should be pretty low key, I am not going to know what to do with myself.
Let's review...
Brayden turned 2 on April 5th. We had a party for him at our house. We do not have many friends with kiddos yet, so it was kind of an adult/kids party. He had a bounce house and it was cowboy themed. He had a blast and we are so gracious for all our friends and family that were able to make it. Now I have to figure out what to do with all these toys!
Easter was good. We went to Mimi's house, which is Heath's grandmother here in town. The family all came over and it was a great meal. Brayden made lots of money for his piggy bank in the egg hunt. She puts coins in all the eggs rather than candy. Thank goodness! He also made out pretty good from the Easter Bunny. He got lots of books and a refrigerator magnet toy.

It rained all weekend for Kristen's shower. The shower was good, her aunts did a great brunch and saved all of the bridesmaids from having to throw a shower. It was fun!
It was a good friend, Marty's 27th birthday weekend, so they came to CS to have a reunion with good friends. He and his fiance (that's weird to write!) Kristen stayed with us as well as my best friend Susan. We took B to my mom's so we could all have a kid free, adult only weekend! It was fun but I can't stay out like I used to! We miss having all of them here in CS to hang out with. I wish we were closer!
I made a decision to change jobs. Same career, different place. I am happy with my decision and it is way less stressful.

So, this is what The Koudelka's have been up to this month! Busy, busy, busy!

Have a great week and until next blog...

He is definitely going on TWO!

Brayden is really showing that his 2nd birthday is approaching. He has become very vocal about everything and lets you know if he is not happy. He has this new thing of pointing and hissing (yes, hissing like a snake) when he doesn't like what you tell him to do, or NOT to do. It's actually quite amusing, but I know I cannot laugh because in turn that would reinforce his negative behavior. He normally gets sent to his room and then I laugh!

He also has become very independent the past few weeks. He wants to do everything for himself. Every time anyone tries to help him with anything he pushes your hand away and says, "I do it!" in a very matter-of-fact tone. I try to encourage this because I know he needs to be a big boy, but at 8am when i am trying to get to work on time, I don't have time to wait for him to figure out how to out on his jacket! So, I guess I am going to have to start getting up earlier to let the kid dress himself!

And last but definitely not least...THE CHILD LOCKED ME OUT OF THE HOUSE THIS WEEK! Yes, I know what you are thinking, but I promise I am not a horrible mother. I do not know how the little stinker managed to lock the DEAD BOLT of the back door when I stepped outside to feed the dog, but he did. I had opened the door, left it cracked to go right back in and as soon as I turned around, he shut and locked it! Heath was gone at work and I was stuck outside at 8pm with no cellphone, nothing! I tried everything I could to try to get him to unlock the door, but all he did was cry. I even tried to "break in" to the front door with anything I could find outside...that didn't work. So, I got a lawn chair and looked into the window at the top of our front door and talked to Brayden for about 20 minutes until Heath finally arrived home. I am so glad I didn't have dinner cooking or water running. And while I was running around like a crazy person in the midst of this, Brayden proceeded to sit on the couch and watch American Idol with an occasional whine that Mommy was stuck outside. So, needless to say, we will be finding somewhere to hide a key!

Home Sick :(

Brayden and I are at home sick today :( He has been running a fever on and off all weekend and the poor thing can hardly sleep because he is coughing so much. I don't know what else to do, I took him to an express care facility on Friday evening and they gave him meds (which he hates) and they do not seem to be helping. He has an appointment with our family doctor today, so we shall see. I am tired of him getting sick almost every other week. I am beginning to think I may need to take him to an allergy doctor or something.

As for me, I woke up at 2 am with a horrible tummy ache and have had it all morning. So, we are at home resting! It is well needed since I had to work all day on Saturday. I just hate that we are both sick!

If anyone has any good home remedies for a severely congested 22 month old, please let me know! I have tried everything I can think of!

Until next time...
